The Praesiduim is the basic unit of the Legion of Mary. The name Praesidium comes from the Latin word for a detachment of the Roman Legion.

The Praesidium has a priest as Spiritual Director, a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

The Praesidium has authority over its members and can control their actions. Loyal members obey Praesidium orders.

The Praesidium is affiliated with higher councils.

It is approved by the pastor.

It meets once a week.

Jesus says that when 2 or 3 are gathered in my name I am with them. The Praesidium gathers in a family atmosphere with God our Father. We are brothers and sisters in Christ. Mary is with us also.

A plenary Indulgence is gained by reciting the Rosary at the meeting. You have to satisfy other conditions, like going to Communion, Confession and praying for the Holy Father.

At the meeting we receive grace and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. We learn better ways to do our work. We learn more about our faith.

At the Praesidium meeting we gather together with Jesus, the Holy Spirit and Mary to learn to be more effective children of Mary.
