The handbook speaks of true devotion to Our Lady.
The founders of the Legion were studying Saint Louis Marie de Montfort's book, True Devotion to Mary, when they started the Legion. The idea of True Devotion is central to the Legion. True Devotion is a consecration of ourselves to Mary. Most of us after praying for 33 days have gotten together in the church to make make our total consecration. We renew our consecration at the Acies. Saint Louis Marie de Montfort says that the easiest path to Jesus is through Mary. Mary has a special relationship with God. She is the daughter of God the Father, spouse of the Holy Spirit, and Mother of Jesus. God also gives her a special place through the Immaculate Conception. We give ourselves to Jesus through Mary, We become slaves of Mary. In the words of the act of consecration; I deliver and consecrate to thee, as thy slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of my good actions, past, present and future, leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God in time and in eternity.This is a total consecration. We give up everything. We have nothing left. Everything we have comes from God. We take our next breath, the blood moves through our veins because God wills it. God is generous. Everything we give to Him will be returned greatly amplified. The more we give the more we have. When we give our good works to Jesus through Mary, we find we are able to do even greater works. Grace in us has increased. We become, like Mary, full of grace. Each day we should remind ourselves of our consecration; I am all yours my Queen, my Mother and all that I have is yours. |
