In the Legion we work for the Church, the body of Christ.
The Church is a vine, we are the branches.
Our Church is Apostolic. Our priests can trace their ordination back through the apostles to Jesus. In John 15:5, Jesus said; "I am the vine you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing."To strengthen our attachment to the vine, we should keep in close contact with the parish. We should give priority to works such as visiting parishioners, teaching religious education, going door to door inviting people to church, encouraging devotions, and welcoming strangers. Works such as these support the parish and strengthen our attachment to the vine. The Legion of Mary is a militant arm of the parish. To increase our integration with the Church, we should encourage priests to attend our meetings. If your Spiritual Director has not been attending Legion meetings, invite him again. Make it a personal face to face invitation. He is our direct link back to Jesus. Jesus said in John 13:20; "Amen, amen, I say to you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me: and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me."Priests are sent. We are sent. We will be more effective and produce greater fruit, the more we are connected to the Parish. |
