The Legion of Mary is Mary's army obeying Christ's command to spread the faith. Pope Francis and
Pope Benedict have asked that all Catholics be involved in a new evangelization.
This is what the Legion of Mary does.
The Legion is patterned after the Roman Legion. The Roman Legion was an effective organization. It was supreme for centuries.
An army requires discipline. So does the Legion of Mary. Actually, any organization, from a sports team to a large corporation, requires discipline to achieve its goals.
Discipline is reflected at the weekly meeting when it is orderly, starts and finishes on time, and when reports are complete and concise. Discipline extends to all our Legion work. It strengthens our character and our faith. It makes us more able to contribute to the work of serving those we encounter.
