The Legion Promise

New members of the Legion of Mary serve a probationary period of at least three months, but from the first they can participate fully in the works of the Legion. After the probationary period, the Legionary takes their promise and is formally admitted. Popes have praised the Promise.

The Legion Promise is made to the Holy Spirit. It follows the annunciation where Mary said,

"Behold the handmaid of the Lord."
  • We ask the Holy Spirit to overshadow us as He did Mary.

  • We ask that Christ grow in us.

  • We ask that we, with Mary, may bring Christ to the world.

  • We promise faithful service and agree to submit to Legion discipline.

  • We ask to join Mary's army to renew the face of the earth and establish the reign of the Holy Spirit.
