The Holy Spirit operates always with her

Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. Mary was present at Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles. The Holy Spirit is prominent in the Legion of Mary. We open our meetings with a prayer to the Holy Spirit. We take our promise to the Holy Spirit. The vexillum is a model for the Legion, with graces flowing from the Holy Spirit at the top through Mary to the world.

At the Legion meeting and in doing our work we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Isaiah prophesizes that Jesus will receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Isaiah 11:2-3 lists some of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

"And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him: the spirit of wisdom, and of understanding, the spirit of counsel, and of fortitude, the spirit of knowledge and of godliness.

And He shall be filled with the spirit of fear of the Lord."

All Christians in the state of grace have the gifts of the Holy Spirit to some degree.

Gabriel said to Mary, "The Holy Spirit shall come upon you." (Luke 1:35) Mary said, "Be it done to me according to your word." (Luke 1:38) Mary accepted the influence of the Holy Spirit in her life.

Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort says that the Holy Spirit enters a soul when Mary is present.

We pray in the Legion Promise that we may become instruments of the Holy Spirit's mighty purpose to renew the face of the earth.

If we are united with Mary, the Holy Spirit will descend on us today.

Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts.
