This is an independent study course. Numerical methods is suggested as a topic.
Other topics are possible.
Each student meets with Prof. Daly for one hour each week.
During meetings Prof. Daly explains the material and assigns work.
Work assigned at previous meetings is discussed.
Eleven software homework projects are assigned. Written reports for three these
projects are required.
Grades are based on the the reports, homework, and class participation.
After taking this course you will;
 be fluent in the use of excel.
 understand the limitations of numerical methods.
 be able to simulate physical processes.
 be able to numerically integrate arbitrary functions.
 be able to solve nonlinear differential equations.
 be able to use software to extract physical parameters from data.
